My name is Jay Mendham, and I am currently studying Advanced Science at the University of New South Wales, as I one day wish to complete a PhD in astrochemistry.
Having graduated from Manly Selective Campus in 2019 with an ATAR of 98.35, I was awarded the ‘All Round Achievement’ award, commemorating my top bands across all subjects.
During my HSC, I was tutored in English Advanced, to help me understand the subject and craft my essays. My tutor catered her explanations to my learning style, and, with her help, I achieved a band 6. As an individual who has a deep knowledge of mathematics and the sciences, I would love to help others in a similar situation to realise their potential.
Outside of academia, I love to play the trumpet, and have played in a number of classical and jazz bands over the past 10 years, gaining many new friends through our shared passion.
I am also fascinated by nature and the outdoors, leading to my completion of the Duke of Edinburgh Gold award last year, where I had the opportunity to climb Mt. Kosciuszko during a four day hike through the surrounding national park.
